Conclusion

There were 28 RCTs involving 4398 procedures. Negative pressure dressings reduced the rate of surgical site infection (relative risk 0.61, 95 per cent confidence interval 0.49 to 0.76, P<0.0001), wound dehiscence (0.78, 0.64 to 0.94) and seroma (0.43, 0.32 to 059).
