Conclusion

Postoperative pancreatitis (three-fold rise in amylase, new abdominal pain) developed in 9.2 per cent of patients who had indomethacin versus 16.9 per cent of controls in this study that included 602 high risk patients (P=0.005). Pancreatitis was moderate to severe in 4.4 and 8.8 per cent, respectively (P=0.03).
