This is the perineum of a patient in the lithotomy position,with laparoscopic light transilluminating the skin. It demonstrates two incisional hernia defects. Perineal hernias are a complication of abdominoperineal excision of the rectum. In this case a biosynthetic mesh was sutured transabdominally to the pelvic inlet, and the perineal skin and hernia sac were resected from below.
